Moldovan parliament to consider proposal by head of state on date of presidential elections

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament’s juridical commission for rules and immunities today approved a report on the draft decision concerning the establishing of the date of the Moldovan president’s elections.
The draft sees that the presidential polls are established for 12 November 2020, with the decision due to enter into force on 15 August, this year.
In accordance with the provisions of the Article 109 from the Electoral Code, the ‘’Elections for the office of Moldova’s president will be held by 30 days at the earliest and by 60 days at the latest before the expiration of the incumbent president’s mandate. The parliament sets the date of the elections for the position of Moldova’s president by 60 days before the elections day at the earliest.’’
The mandate of President Igor Dodon expires on 23 December 2020.
