EU to back Moldova in overcoming economic crisis, managing epidemiological situation

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a meeting with Head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, Ambassador Peter Michalko, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Ion Chicu referred to the evolution of the epidemiological situation in Moldova and the finishing of the period of the emergency state. The authorities are set to undertake measures of adaptation of restrictions and allow the resumption of some economic activities. The getting out of the quarantine period will be carried out by maintaining a reasonable balance and maximal caution. Measures will be taken to maintain the personal discipline of each person, to prevent carelessness and not to allow a social and economic collapse.     

The officials tackled the evolution of the economic processes in Moldova and in the region and discussed ways through which the economic impact of the restrictions imposed in the context of the epidemiological situation can be attenuated.

Peter Michalko confirmed the European Union’s intention to back Moldova in overcoming the economic crisis and managing the epidemiological situation.
