Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - President-elect Maia Sandu, at a today’s news conference, informed that she spoke out for the organization of snap parliamentary elections, as the current legislative body cannot create a parliamentary majority backing the reforms needed.
Maia Sandu noted that she would not accept the Socialists’ vote for the new cabinet. ‘’The snap polls represent the sole solution and the ways of holding snap elections are clearly stipulated in the Constitution,’’ Sandu said.
The president-elect said she was to have a meeting with Prime Minister Ion Chicu. ‘’It is clear for us that this government must leave. Till it leaves, this cabinet should fulfill its duties. Last week, I came up with requests, so that the 2021 budget provides for enough support for the categories of residents worst-hit by the pandemic and economic crises,’’ Sandu said.
Maia Sandu also said that she would soon give up her capacity of leader of the Action and Solidarity Party. Sandu specified that, once sworn in the office of Moldovan president, she would cut the costs for the maintenance of the buildings managed by this institution and would look for another use of the Condrita-based presidential residence.
The president-elect informed that she would soon start discussions with Russia on the presence of Russian military in the Transnistrian region.
