Individual tax facilities for IT professionals expanded by 2023

Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/- Yesterday, the cabinet approved the extension by 2023 of the tax facilities for professionals in the information technology sector.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI), the measures will boost the development of the IT sector, which in recent years has become one of the main exporters of services.
In 2019, according to the State Tax Service, 114 IT companies benefited from tax facilities, the number of beneficiary employees being about 1300-1500 people. Respectively, in the conditions of the average salary in the economy of 8.7 thousand lei, the non-taxable income will be the one that exceeds the amount of 17.4 thousand lei, given that the average salary in the IT sector for 2019, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, was about 16.3 thousand lei.
"This measure will encourage increase salaries, and the facility will have minimal impact on the state budget," says MEI.
Maintaining the proposed tax incentives will help ensure the predictability of entrepreneurship for IT companies, increase the salary of staff directly involved in IT, the volume of taxes and fees collected related to the IT industry, as a result of the development of the companies, and will attract specialists in companies that have significant IT sales, but are not eligible to join the Moldova IT Park.
