Chisinau, 18 August /MOLDPRES/- The German economic consulting team "Berlin Economics" has developed a study on the tariff rates applied and the volume of exports of Moldovan agricultural products to the European Union and has proposed solutions to facilitate their export to new EU markets. The results of the study were presented yesterday in a joint meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Viorel Gherciu, MOLDPRES reports.

In the opinion of German experts, the generation of added value of cereals and the delivery of plums in larger quantities on the EU market, could bring considerable profit to our country.

"One of our recommendations is that agriculture in the Republic of Moldova should be oriented towards the processing of cereals for export, which will ensure higher incomes in the economy. At the same time, we recommend to increase the export quota for Moldovan plums, especially in the category of fresh consumption. In the same context, we inform that there is a high export potential of grapes and apples. Currently, most horticultural products are mainly exported to the Russian Federation, but in order to see an upward trend in the value of horticultural products in the European Union and to achieve long-term competitive advantages, the horticultural sector needs diversification, investment and development focused on innovation. , in accordance with the rigors of the European Union ", mentioned the German economic policy adviser, Ricardo Giucci.

In order to promote domestic agricultural production, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will review national policies in the sector, identify opportunities to increase exports of recommended agricultural products and encourage agricultural producers to comply with Western market criteria.

"The agenda of the Government of the Republic of Moldova has as a priority to increase the access of agricultural producers to foreign markets, so we need recommendations for concrete actions. In terms of elaborated analyzes, agricultural producers will be informed about the new opportunities and we will be able to create new conditions to facilitate the export of agricultural products ", concluded Minister Viorel Gherciu.
