First Innovations Laboratory in Agriculture to be launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ - To connect the agriculture with innovating solutions, the Technovator platform, in partnership with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Tekwill project, launch the AgTech Innovation Laboratory. This is a programme meant to support the speeding up of the process of agriculture’s digitalization, in order to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of the sector. The AgTech Innovation Laboratory will be implemented on the period November 2021 – April 2022.
The Innovations Laboratory in Agriculture is to work online. The programme is set to bring together about 100 participants from both sectors, technologies and agriculture, with the involvement of over 30 mentors and national and international experts, who will contribute to the acceleration of the innovation in agriculture and food industry, through combining the IT instruments in the agricultural branch, in order to enhance the efficiency and the competitiveness.
AgTech Innovation Lab will be carried out in five stages: defining the challenges, identifying the participants, creating the teams, the AgTech Hackathon and Accelerator. Participants in the IT sector, experts in agriculture, entrepreneurs, experts in marketing and other enthusiasts, who want to contribute to the implementation of new technologies in agriculture, can apply to the programme.
The setting up of teams will take place before the Hackathon, through an online platform. The people selected will create teams, in order to communicate in group and define the ideas of business’ development. They can also participate with already created teams.
„During 12 weeks, the Hackathon’s finalists will have access to an education platform with video materials and tests which tackle the principal subjects of developing a startup: business models, identifying clients, market’s analysis and preparing for backing pitches before potential partners. The teams participating in the accelerator will have possibility to cooperate with 2-3 private companies from the agricultural industry, in order to be able to test the programme’s products, through identifying potential clients and their real needs,’’ the Laboratory’s organizers said.
