Moldovan parliament speaker to pay official visit to Brussels

Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu will pay a visit to Brussels on 16-17 November, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Under the agenda, Andrian Candu will have meetings with European Parliament President Martin Schulz, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations Iohannes Hahn, EU Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu, European Parliament Rapporteur for Moldova Petras Austrevicius, as well as the leadership of the EU Delegation to the European Union - Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, MEPs Andi Cristea and Michal Boni.
The main subjects due to be tackled at the meetings with the EU officials concern the present political situation in Moldova, enforcement of the Association Agreement and Free Trade Agreement.
In Brussels, Andrian Candu will attend a meeting of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs. The officials will exchange opinions with the committee members and the ones of the European Union - Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee on the domestic developments in Moldova.
The parliament speaker will also give a speech at a conference, organised by the European Parliament, in concert with the Crisis Management Initiative (CMI), titled, Political Transition and Peace Processes: Experience of National Parliaments and Role of Parliamentary Dialogue. Attending the conference will also be the bashkan (governor) of the Gagauz autonomy, Irina Vlah, who will speak about the ties between the autonomy and the Moldovan parliament.
Andrian Candu also has planned discussions with experts and opinion makers in the foreign policy sector on the platform of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Foundation.
The visit to Brussels by the parliament speaker takes place in the context of the one-year anniversary of the ratification of the Association Agreement by the European Parliament. So Far, 26 EU member states have ratified the Association Agreement. The Moldovan parliament ratified the treaty on 2 July 2014.
