More Moldovan settlements face power outages due to strong wind

Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/- Today's strong wind left 14 Moldovan settlements from five districts without electricity supply and partially destroyed the roofs of a kindergarten and gymnasium from Calarasi district.

The press officer of the Interior Ministry’s Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service, Diana Turcanu said “the wind had partially destroyed the roof of a kindergarten from Bravicea village and the roof of the gymnasium in Tibirica village, Calarasi district. Partial power outages had suffered five settlements from Soroca district, four localities from Ungheni district, three villages from Ocnita district, one locality from Briceni district and another one from Falesti district”.

According to a press release by Red Union Fenosa electricity provider, the wind had partially hurt electricity networks and caused unsafe situations. Authorities urge citizens to observe safety rules in case of bad weather or damaged electrical installations.

More operative groups had been deployed by the electricity provider to repair malfunctions and restore the electricity supply.

The State Hydro-meteorological Service issued yellow code of strong wind throughout Moldova for today and 2 December.
