Moldovan PM meets state structures of pharmaceutical sector

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip on 6 February had a meeting with representatives of the central public administration in charge of developing and promoting policies of regulating the work on the pharmaceutical market, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The sides considered issues tackled by actors on this market at consultations organized by the prime minister this week: the level of residents’ supply with medicines, accessibility and efficiency of medication, possible ways of removing obstacles for producers, importers, distributors, pharmacists, hospitals and guaranteeing the state’s pharmaceutical security.

At the end of the meeting, the participants ruled that, in a week period, the Health Ministry should unveil an action plan and a set of measures for improving the situation on the pharmaceutical market, so that the residents have fair access to quality, efficient medication and at reasonable prices.

‘’I demanded delimiting the problems which can be remedied quickly and the strategic ones, which need a revision of the normative framework in the sector of pharmaceutical activity, acquisitions and working out a concept on ensuring the national pharmaceutical security,’’ Pavel Filip said. In this context, the participants in the meeting proposed developing an information platform on monitoring the circulation of medicines, analysis and control of the pharmaceutical expenses.

The prime minister instructed that the Health Ministry ensures the completion of a list of compensated medicines with essential and vital medication, thus ensuring access to medicines and optimizing the hospitalization costs. Also, the PM demanded undertaking measures to enhance the efficiency of medicines by adjusting the national clinical protocols to the international ones. The participants in the meeting also identified specific solutions to medicines purchased under national programmes and a group of orphan drugs.

Also, the participants in the meeting brought into discussion a string of solutions to liberalize the medication market and develop the Moldovan pharmaceutical production. Special attention was paid to defective mechanisms and functional doubling of the central competent authorities in authorizing and carrying the procedure.
