Moldovan diplomacy head meets Swiss counterpart

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today had a meeting with Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter. The meeting of the two officials took place on the sidelines of the 127th session of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, held in Nicosia, Cyprus, on these days, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The sides exchanged opinions on the present stage of the Moldovan-Swiss relations, agenda of the bilateral political dialogue, commercial and economic cooperation and the content of the future Switzerland-Moldova Cooperation Strategy for 2018-2021.
Minister Andrei Galbur highly appreciated the political support of Switzerland, as well as the technical assistance provided to Moldova during the 16 years of work of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Chisinau. At the same time, he expressed interest in the diversification of the intervention sectors in the following cycle of assistance 2018-2021.
For his part, the Swiss diplomacy head reiterated his country’s willingness to further back Moldova’s efforts of modernization and aligning with the European standards.
Also, the two officials reviewed the mutual cooperation and support within the international organizations, in particular the OSCE and United Nations.
