Moldovan deputy foreign minister participates at meeting of SEECP foreign ministers

Chisinau, 30 June /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Daniela Morari participated today in Dubrovnik at the Meeting of the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP). The event was organized under the auspices of Croatia, currently holding the SEECP Chairmanship-in-Office, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The meeting provided a good opportunity for participants to exchange views on assessing the current political situation in the region, the challenges and threats to security and stability at regional level as well as the priorities of cooperation for the next period in the SEECP.
During her speech, Daniela Morari referred to the important role played by regional cooperation in sustaining the European path of the Republic of Moldova, and the need to fully exploit the opportunities for SEECP cooperation in order to facilitate the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU and achieve tangible results for citizens.
At the same time, during the meeting were appreciated the Croatian efforts to promote connectivity through the transport, energy, environment and information technologies dimension, using regional cooperation in order to address these challenges posed by the migration crisis, as well as the activities undertaken to strengthen the firm commitment of the region for the European path.
At the end of the meeting, a political declaration of the SEECP Member States was adopted, reconfirming their support for the successful implementation of the initiatives and programs of cooperation in the region of Southeast Europe, appreciating the importance of continuing European path of SEECP Member States, reaffirming the commitment for dialogue and cooperation to resolve regional crises and challenges.
At the end of the meeting, Slovenia, which takes over the SEECP Chairmanship-in-Office, has been encouraged to continue the process of cooperation and dialogue to jointly address regional crises and challenges.
Note: The South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) was launched on Bulgaria's initiative in 1996. At the Bulgaria-chaired meeting in Sofia, the Southeast Europe (SEE) countries laid the foundations for regional co-operation for the purposes of creating an atmosphere of trust, good neighbourly relations and stability.
The Republic of Moldova joined the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) on May 4th 2006, within the High Level SEECP Summit from Thessaloniki (Greece). On October 10 2006, the Republic of Moldova has signed the Charter on Good Neighborly relations, Stability, Security and Cooperation in South Eastern Europe, becoming de jure full fledged member to the SEECP. The Republic of Moldova held the chairmanship of SEECP in 2008-2009.
The member states of SEECP are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Republic of Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Croatia, Moldova, Montenegro and Slovenia.
