Moldovan electoral body sets way of political parties' participation in electoral campaign for republican referendum

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved an instruction on the way of participation of political parties and other social and political organizations in the electoral campaign for a republican referendum, scheduled for 24 September 2017.
The CEC press service said that the document’s goal was improving the electoral procedures concerning the participation of political parties and other social and political organizations in actions of electoral agitation for the republican referendum, as well as the proper fulfillment of their rights and duties within the plebiscite.
Thus, after the Central Electoral Campaign publishes the list of parties and other social and political organizations which have right to participate in the republican referendum, they can ask for registration as participant in the referendum. For its part, CEC, in a three-day term, will consider the string of documents submitted, after which it will express its opinion on their registration.
At the same time, starting the moment of registration, the participant in the plebiscite will be able to benefit from air time that is free of charge and against payment and to take part in electoral discussions, according to the procedures established by the legislation in force. The financing of the campaign for the referendum will be made by the opening of an account titled, Electoral Fund, at a bank, to which their own sums and sums received from private persons and legal entities from Moldova will be transferred.
Also at the today’s meeting, CEC approved a calendar plan for carrying out actions of organization and holding the republican referendum.
