Moldova marks 26th anniversary of independence

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- Moldova marks the 26th anniversary of independence voted by the parliament on 27 August 1991.
The event has traditionally begun with flowers at the monument of Stefan cel Mare and later at the Grieving Mother monument.
A vast cultural and artistic program will be carried out on the Great National Assembly Square. It will be supported by folk music artists, bands and folk groups. The following bands will perform on stage – “Joc”, “Martisor”, Flueiras”, “Big Jazz Orchestra” and other artistic groups. The concert will end with a light music recital by local and foreign singers.
Also, 20 amateur artistic groups will march in a parade of popular costumes, presenting the variety of the national folk costume, and the folk craftsmen will exhibit their creations at a fair.
Events dedicated to Independence Day are taking place today in all the cities of the country.
