Law on energy promulgated by Moldovan president

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- The law on energy will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 20 October.

The document will be published once it has been promulgated by President Igor Dodon, who previously rejected the law. It aims to convey more concepts, including the rights and obligations of the regulator.

Under the law, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) will also have the right to apply financial sanctions to market operators. The new version of the document also amends the procedure for appointing directors of the ANRE Board of Directors, stating that they will be appointed on the basis of a competition organized by parliament on professional and transparent principles.

Another principle promoted by the law is the approval of ANRE budget by the Board of Directors with the subsequent information of the parliament and subject to control by the Court of Auditors. The document was coordinated and experimented by the European Energy Community.
