Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ – The national service 112 will be launched nine months earlier than scheduled. The announcement was made by Premier, Pavel Filip, in an exclusive interview to the agency.
According to the quoted source, Service 112 project was designed firstly about 6 – 7 years ago, as to provide citizens with safety.
"When we started this project, communications infrastructure was beginning to grow sharply, but in the field of emergency communications there is a complete lack of modernisation, which makes it difficult for both citizens and authorities. Although we managed to elaborate and approve a special law in 2014, a rather difficult stage followed, which affected terms of the project. There have been disagreements between political forces since then, so things did not move at the speed we would have wanted," said Filip.
He added that when he was invested as Prime Minister, Service 112 project was once again a priority for Executive. "We were able to quickly approve the necessary legislative framework and start all procedures. It was approved legislative and normative framework on standardisation and regulation, it was established institutional framework and there were allocated necessary resources and premises. The equipment and computer systems and communications systems were also delivered. Similarly, it was hired and trained necessary staff," said Filip.
The initiation of operational Service 112 is set for 30 June. However, Service 112 will become functional since 29 March, after which it will begin an extensive migration process to Service 112 of existing functionalities, data integration and systems IT.
