Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers decided today to initiate negotiations on the draft Air Transport Agreement between the Government of Moldova and the Government of the United States of America and attributed liabilities to negotiate it by an official delegation.
The Air Transport Agreement between the Government of Moldova and the Government of the United States of America will establish principles governing operation of bilateral air services, including rules on aviation security, certificates and fees of airworthiness and competence. The signing of this Agreement will contribute to opening of Moldovan air services market and diversification of destinations in Chisinau International Airport, while also facilitating access to North American markets.
The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) states that signing of Agreement will contribute to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations, favouring investment climate between Moldova and USA.
The signing of the Agreement will have favourable consequences in terms of respecting international commitments already assumed by Moldova as a member of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). Although no national airline currently conducts air travel to USA, legal framework created by this Agreement may lead to development of traffic between Moldova and USA. Also, there will be omitted restrictions on tariffs used on all routes between Moldova and USA.
