Republic of Korea to donate 450 computers to education institutions of Moldova

Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Province Jeju from the Republic Korea will donate 450 computers to general education institutions from Moldova, under a memorandum of understanding signed in Chisinau today.
Besides the donation of computers, the document also provides for the participation of 60 teachers in training courses in IT and communication sector in Korea. The donation is to be carried out in three annual consignments, during 2018-2020. Thus, annually, by 150 computers are to be annually donated and by 20 teachers are to be trained. The selection of education institutions and teachers is made by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry.
At the signing event, Education, Culture and Research Minister Monica Babuc thanked partners from the Jeju Province for the support, openness and investments in the education system of Moldova.
“This memorandum is an inestimable help for two reasons: firs of all, given that the digital education represents one of the ministry’s priorities and secondly, - the Republic of Korea is one of the leaders of the development of information technologies all over the world; therefore, the support and cooperation namely with this country give us a great advantage,” Babuc said.
A similar memorandum between the Education Ministry and the Special Governmental Office for Education of the Jeju Province from South Korea was signed in September 2015 for a three-year term (2015-2017). The memorandum saw the donation of 450 computers for Moldovan schools and organizing training courses in the IT and communication sector for 60 informatics teachers. The last consignment of computers for 2017 is to be made in the first ten-day period of April.
So far, 24 general education institutions have been endowed with computers provided by Korean partners. Their number varies between 5 and 15, depending on the total number of pupils from the institution.
