Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ – More segments of road in Chisinau will be repaired in nearest future. The acting mayor of Chisinau, Silvia Radu, made that announcement during a press conference today.

According to official, in the first stage, the pits will be covered after winter season and in the second stage, larger areas will be repaired.

"This is a comprehensive road repair programme. The work will be carried out in each yard, all roads, sidewalks and modified edges will be paved to be accessible to persons with special needs and trolleys. Larger works will begin in June, so the money was already allocated. The interventions will be carried out qualitatively and will last for a long time," said Silvia Radu.

The official said police officers would guide road traffic during works. "We will announce step by step how interventions will take place. These will not be done at night, as the outside temperatures are still low, plus night work in yards will upset citizens. We urged those responsible that road rehabilitation to be carried out qualitatively to withstand time. At the same time, external experts will be called to verify the work done," said acting mayor.

The Deputy Head of the General Public Transport Directorate of Chisinau, Vitalie Butucel, said that repairs would be carried out on several streets in Chisinau, including: 31 August 1989, Tighina and Alexandru cel Bun. "In the next two months, we shall cover the pits. Similarly, there will be made several auctions to select companies as to carry out the works," said Butucel.

For rehabilitation works in Chisinau, it was allocated amount of MDL 125 million.
