Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ – Three Moldovan diplomats were expelled today from the Russian Federation.
According to news agency RIA Novosti, ambassador of Moldova to Moscow, Andrei Neguta, was convened at the Russian Foreign Ministry today where he was informed about expulsion of three Moldovan diplomats from Russia.
The decision was made after the Republic of Moldova, along with other countries of the world, expelled Russian diplomats in solidarity with the United Kingdom.
Also today, Russian authorities expelled 13 Ukrainian diplomats, four German and Polish diplomats, three Lithuanians, three Czech diplomats, two Italians, two diplomats from Latvia and one from Romania.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration convened earlier this week the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Moldova, Farit Muhametshin, who was informed that three diplomats from the Russian mission are declared non – grata and are forced to leave the territory of Moldova within 7 days.
The decision of authorities of Moldova comes as solidarity with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and following conclusions of the European Council of 23 – 24 March 2018, which qualifies the Salisbury attack as a threat to collective security and international law.
