Chisinau, 5 April /MOLDPRES/- The Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC) has worked out a new Cooperation Strategy between Switzerland and Moldova for 2018-2021, on the basis of which it will provide technical assistance amounting to 50.9 million Swiss francs to our country. Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova Simone Giger made the statement at a meeting with Foreign and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media relations service has reported.
In this context Giger informed the Moldovan official that the strategy will be presented during a visit to Chisinau on 16-18 April by a government delegation from Switzerland, led by Krystyna Marty Lang, Deputy State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office.
Ulianovschi appreciated the effort of the Swiss authorities to develop a new strategy, which is a continuation of a similar document made in 2014-2017, where Moldova benefitted from assistance amounting to over 55 million Swiss francs, with projects implemented in the public health, drinking water supply, migration and development etc.
The sides welcomed the positive dynamics of the bilateral relations and agreed to boost them by carrying out joint activities at different levels. In this context, they pointed out the mutual initiatives to set partnerships at the level of localities in the two countries, as an example is the visit to Moldova in May by the delegation of the municipal council of Collonge-Bellerive in the canton of Geneva, etc.
The Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova was opened in 2000. It has got diplomatic mission status and represents the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation with the residence in Kiev, Ukraine.
