Over 6,000 Interior Ministry employees to ensure public order in Moldova on Easter holidays period

Chisinau, 5 April /MOLDPRES/ - More than 6,000 Interior Ministry (MAI) employees will ensure public order on the Easter holidays period. Interior Minister Alexandru Jizdan made statements to this effect at a news conference today.
According to the official, if needed, the number of MAI employees will be increased. “In case of an emergency situation, we urge citizens to call the single number 112,” Jizdan said.
The head of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), Alexandru Panzari, noted that about 2,400 policemen would ensure public order at those 1,300 churches and about the same number of law-enforcers will patrol nearby those 1,300 cemeteries.
“The number of patrol employees and quick reaction crews will be doubled on the country’s roads. The IGP employees will accompany the transmission of the Holy Fire. Also, 100 policemen will ensure public order at the Birth of God Metropolitan Cathedral. We urge citizens not to come by their own cars, but with the public transport. Nevertheless, if people do not give up their personal vehicles, they are urged to park on adjacent streets. At the same time, citizens are asked not to leave children without supervision,” Panzari said.
“Carabineers will ensure public order in all districts of the Moldovan capital and other cities of the country, especially nearby churches and cemeteries. Also, reserves will be created in case of emergencies. We urge citizens to be attentive when making fires and avoid the consumption of alcohol,” the first deputy commander of the Carabineer Troops, Mihail Ciubaciuc, said.
The head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Mihail Harabagiu, stressed that over 600 firemen and about 200 special vehicles were ready to intervene in emergency situations. “We recommend than citizens are attentive with open fire and do not block access ways to churches. Also, we warn that the burning of tyres is strictly banned,” Harabagiu said.
”On 5 and 6 April, the border traffic will be crowded and employees will get actively involved in easing it. We urge people to make sure that the travel documents are OK and inform in case they have children in transport means,” the head of the Border Police, Fredolin Lecari, said.
This year, the Orthodox Easter is marked on 8 April and the Easter of the Departed – on 15 and 16 April.
