Moldovan deputy prime minister pays working visit to Bulgaria

Chisinau, 05 April /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Iurie Leanca, paid a working visit to Sofia on 04 – 05 April, where he had a series of meetings with Bulgarian officials, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The Deputy Prime Minister met with Bulgarian President, Rumen Radev, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ekaterina Zaharieva and Tomislav Doncev, Bulgarian Foreign Policy Committee Chairman, Dzhema Grozdanova and chairman of Friendship Group, Filip Popov.
The main topics discussed during the discussions were intensification of bilateral relations on different levels, importance of Bulgaria's support in improving socio-economic, linguistic and cultural conditions of the Bulgarian community in the Republic of Moldova, as well as the strengthening of Bulgaria's role in the European path of our country.
The parties noted amplification of bilateral political dialogue, increase in number of tourists visiting the two countries, and intensification of trade between the two countries. In 2017, the volume of trade exceeded $150 million.
Speaking about the Bulgarian community in Moldova, interlocutors agreed to further develop capacities of educational system in Taraclia district by implementing concrete projects of computerisation of educational institutions, intensifying exchange of teachers and pupils according to European practices in the field, direct links between communities.
During the talks, Bulgarian side reiterated its commitment to stepping up its efforts with other EU countries in order to provide a European perspective for Moldova. The talks with high officials in Sofia pointed out that Bulgaria remains a reliable partner in the European path of Moldova.
Deputy Prime Minister, Iurie Leanca, also had a working dinner with a group of Western ambassadors accredited in Sofia and offered an interview with BNT national television station.
