Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/ - The flow of citizens crossing the state border  significantly increased started from 5 April evening and the authorities mobilized more customs inspectors to ensure the speeding up of formalities of customs clearance and shortening the waiting time in customs.

According to the Customs Service (SV), in the last 12 hours, at the Leuseni customs office alone, as many as 1,485 transport units have crossed the border and over 20 customs inspectors, including the customs checkpoint’s management, have been mobilized at more crossing points.

The Customs Service instructed a string of measures to ease the cross-border traffic on the period of Easter holidays. The measures regard the increase in the number of staff members and equipments for checking, use of all control lanes, no matter the direction of crossing, as well as the involvement of the heads of the customs checkpoints and their deputies in the customs clearance act.

At the same time, the Customs Service has established a Single Call Centre (+373 22 574 111), where citizens can learn information on the rules of crossing the border with diverse goods or can make denunciations as to eventual abuses committed by employees of the Service. Also, on the SV’s webpage, drivers can see in due time the traffic at the customs checkpoints with most crossings, in order to be able to plan the optimum route.

According to data by the Customs Service, the highest traffic values are recorded on the Friday before Easter. In 2017, the maximum levels of traffic were registering up to 3,163 crossings for Leuseni customs checkpoint, 2,395 for Sculeni and 686 for Criva.
