National committee for combating trafficking in human beings convenes into meeting in Moldova

Chisinau, 06 April /MOLDPRES/ – The National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings met on 05 April in a meeting to assess level of implementation of national policies for preventing and combating trafficking in human beings (TFU), as well as identify solutions for improving policies on the dimension.
According the government’s communication and protocol department, the event brought together heads of ministries, representatives of other public institutions with field competences, diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova, international and non – commercial organisations in Moldova. The participants analised activity of anti – trafficking community in Moldova in 2017, reflected in National Report on prevention and combating of trafficking in human beings for 2017, elaborated by the Secretariat of Committee. The report will be published on www.antitrafic.gov.md.
According to the presented data, there has been a significant increase in criminal investigations completed under Articles 165 and 206 of the Criminal Code or referring to number of criminal cases started, it is established that each of second criminal case is sent with indictment to court.
The meeting also discussed increase of access to public healthcare system for victims of trafficking in human beings, granting of financial compensation to them, intensification of cooperation of the relevant institutions into identification and investigation of national and cross – border cases of trafficking in human beings.
The members of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings agreed to intensify joint efforts to achieve goals set out within National Strategy for Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings for 2018 – 2023, recently approved by Government.
