World Health Day marked in Moldova

Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/ - The World Health Day is annually marked in Moldova on 7 April. This year, the event is titled, Universal coverage with medical services – for everybody and everywhere.
According to data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, in Moldova, the mandatory health insurance represents the financial instrument for facilitating the goal of universal coverage through increasing financing, improving access to health services, cutting informal payments and efficient use of funds for health.
The persons involved in the system of mandatory health insurance benefit from the entire range of services provided at those six levels of medical assistance (pre- hospital emergency assistance, primary assistance, outpatient assistance, hospital assistance, high quality medical services, community cares and home cares). At the same time, the pre-hospital emergency assistance and the primary one are provided also to uninsured people, and in case of social diseases, such as tuberculosis, oncological diseases, psychiatric diseases, HIV/AIDS, infectious diseases, uninsured persons benefit from both outpatient assistance and hospital assistance free of charge.
Also, residents enjoy, from the mandatory health insurances funds, costly surgery operations within other special programmes, such as Vascular Prosthesis, Endovascular Surgery, Neurosurgery of backbone’s fractures, and starting from 2014, the expenses dealing with operations of transplant of organs, textures and cells have been covered as well. In 2017, 92 transplant operations were made, for which about 14 million lei was earmarked, by five million lei more against 2016.
Beginning with 2017, the National Health Insurances Company has been financed also in vitro fertilization procedures for pairs where both partners have health insurance policies, in order to ensure residents’ access to services of medically assisted human reproduction.
The 2018 World Health Day is at its 70th issue. In 1948, the World Health Organization hosted the first world-level meeting, the participants in which ruled to mark the World Health Day on 7 April.
