Firemen intervene in over 70 risk situations in Moldova on Easter night

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - Firemen and rescuers intervened in over 70 risk situations on the Easter night.

According to data put out by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), firemen’s actions were aimed at liquidating the fire hotbeds, as well as at de-blocking people.

Today morning, a fire destroyed a vehicle nearby a church in the Dumbrava settlement, Chisinau municipality. The car was taken by flames, after its owner had left a candle burning there. A call to the 112 service was received at 5:00. A crew of firemen intervened on the spot and managed to liquidate the fire without it to be spread. As much as 70 per cent of the vehicle was damaged.

Other interventions of teams of rescuers were needed in the districts of Cahul, Orhei, Drochia, Cantemir, Ialoveni, Floresti and Soroca. In all, firemen managed to extinguish fires on more than 70 hectares of dry vegetation. Moreover, rescuers were also alerted to liquidate hotbeds triggered by tyres set on fire. Fires which ran the risk of getting out of control were registered in the districts of Ciocana and Buiucani of the Chisinau municipality.

IGSU’s data shows that 600 rescuers and firemen with 200 technology units were mobilized to maintain safety and intervene in risk situations.
