About 150,000 people crossed border during Easter holidays

Chisinau, 10 April /MOLDPRES/- About 150,000 people crossed the border during Easter holidays.

Thus, between 2 and 8 April, at the crossing points the flow of people was over 340,000, of which about 200,000 crossings were on the way of entering Moldova. The busiest day of the previous week was Friday, with a flow of over 62,000 people reported. At the same time, on Easter day there was a flow of 25,000 people, of whom over 13,000 were foreign citizens.

Spokesperson of the Customs Service Cristina Rau said that during this period, Leuseni and Sculeni were among the most transit crossings.

Also, during the last 24 hours, at the crossing points, the flow of people was almost 45,000 crossings, out of which a higher number of crossings – 25,000 was recorded on exit direction from Moldova.

The Customs Service has ordered a lot of measures to streamline cross-border traffic during Easter holidays. They aim to increase the number of staff and verification equipment, the use of all control arteries irrespective of the direction of the crossing, as well as the involvement of heads of customs posts and their deputies in the customs clearance.
