National food safety agency launches new modes to protect consumers in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 April /MOLDPRES/ – The leadership of National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) presented two new consumer protection tools at a press conference today. These are submission of petitions via Viber network and installation in commercial units of speakers where citizens will also be able to send complaints on non – compliant goods or services.

"There are two new modes to help consumers and enable them to inform us on – spot about depicted irregularities and violations. It is often the case that persons send petitions, but not to institution in charge, so action is redirected to us. Until application is examined and necessary measures are taken, precious time is lost and, unfortunately, it is sometimes too late to help with something," said ANSA's general manager, Gheorghe Gaberi, at press conference.

The official explained only petitions drawn up in accordance with law would be examined. "They can be in free form, but it is best to be taken from ANSA's official website (ansa.gov.md). As far as "The complaint form of product/service quality" prepared by specialists of the agency includes all details making that petition a legal and correct one. Video or photo images, housekeeping copies and other documentary facts are just an advantage," said Gheorghe Gaberi.

The ANSA's chief said that boxes of petitioners would be installed in large and crowded commercial establishments, but there could also be info about any violation, not necessarily from company. "Our inspectors will examine and react to any petition," said Gaberi.

Similarly, ANSA's head has informed that other ways of protecting consumers that were previously operational – hotline, complaints books, etc. will remain in force. "We have diversified these levers to help people, proposing other variants of petitions, accessible to larger circles of citizens," said Gheorghe Gaberi.

The speakers, on which all info on work of ANSA will be applied, will be installed in all localities of Moldova within next week. And Viber line is accessible today with number 067675544,.
