Moldovan deputy premier meets head of Council of Europe's Confidence Building Measures' Department

Chisinau, 11 April /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic, has met today with Head of Co – operation Division of the Directorate of Political Affairs of the Council of Europe, Anna Capello, accompanied by the political counselor Myrtia Murgia, the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.
The main topic of discussions viewed on perspectives of implementing projects for promotion of confidence – building measures financed within Action Plan of Moldova – Council of Europe (CoE) 2017 – 2020, approved by CoE Board of Ministers on 01.02.2017, and some successful projects in practice (e.g.: workshops organised for English teachers on both sides of the Dniester river on 23 – 25 August and 28 – 30 November 2017 at European Centre for Modern Languages in Graz, Austria).
In this context, it was emphasised need for development of projects on component of improving interaction of associative environmental organisations on both sides and promotion of human rights in the Transnistrian region, with primary emphasis on defending rights of children, socially vulnerable and disabled persons, ensure respect for all universally recognised rights (education, free movement, etc.), examining possibility of extending provisions of CoE Convention on Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote, 25.10.2007) in eastern districts of Moldova.
Also, there were appreciated recommendations and comments stated in 2016 by experts of CoE in a report on ensuring proper functioning of schools with teaching based upon Latin – script in the Transnistrian region, outlining them to be taken into account by relevant authorities of Moldova, while welcoming initiative of CoE to organise in June a peace camp: Youth peace camp with participation of pupils and young persons from both sides of the Dniester river.
