Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree and the law amending and supplementing the Code of Contravention will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 13 April.

Following the amendment of the legislation, the premeditated offense of the honor, dignity or professional reputation of the doctors in the performance of the service obligations will be sanctioned by a fine of 500 to 1,250 lei. Also, insulting medical worker, accompanied by hooligan actions and injury will be fined up to 7,500 lei or arrest for up to 15 days.

According to the authorities, the legislative amendments will create effective mechanisms to protect the health and rights of health workers.

According to statistics, about 100-120 cases of various forms of violence are reported annually on health professionals, including verbal, psychological and even physical abuse.
