Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ - The building and assembly works for the water main Prut-Falesti, which allows the supply with water of the Falesti town and more villages from the Falesti district, have been recently resumed and are carried out according to schedule. The works take place within a project launched by the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord) in 2017.
The activities on the water main on 11 April were monitored by the Falesti district authorities, management of the Agency and a group of specialists in the field. Decision-makers in charge of implementing the project found out that the economic operator carrying out works of disassembling the old water main Prut-Falesti and of building and assembly of the new one carry out the works in the with the schedule. According to the authorities, the construction site will be rigorously verified also in continuation, as this is a historical project – the old water main Prut-Falesti was built in early 1980s; yet, the Prut river water has eventually failed to reach the homes of the Falesti residents.
“The project on the provision of the Falesti town with drinking water is one of great regional importance. The success of another two projects of this kind, presently implemented by ADR Nord in the Falesti district, depends on this project. Therefore, we will insist that this great project has a positive finality,” ADR Nord director Vitali Povonschi has said.
“This is one of the oldest projects in Moldova. On different periods, the works of construction of the system were financed from more sources. The supply with drinking water and building of sewerage systems continue to be priority goals for local authorities,” the head of the Falesti district, Iraida Banzari, said.
So far, 12.3 million lei has been turned to account for the construction of those 8 km of the total length of 18 km of water main; the money was earmarked from the National Fund for Regional Development (FNDR). Under the contractor agreement, the overall cost of the works amount to 35.4 million lei, demanded from FNDR sources.
ADR Nord has earlier implemented another two projects on water supply in the Falesti district. It is about the projects, Falesti Town’s Water Supply from Prut River and Supply with drinking water and sewerage of residents from the villages of Risipeni and Bocsa and of social and cultural institutions. Within the new project, (Falesti Town’s Water Supply from Prut River 2), the local authorities are set to make the next steps to achieve their principal goal: bringing Prut water to as many as possible households from the district settlements.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, sources from ADR Nord noted that the most serious situation in terms of drinking water’s quality was recorded in the Falesti district in the North Development Region. The water from most wells contains fluorine exceeding 2-3-fold the limits allowed by the sanitary norms. And in the Risipeni village, for instance, there are no enough water reserves in wells either and residents have to cover large distances to carry drinking water.
