Report on media watchdog's work for 2017 to be published in Official Journal

Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ - The report on the work of the Audiovisual Coordination Council (CCA) for 2017 will be published in the 13 April issue of the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).   

Under the document, last year, CCA held 34 public meetings, during which it adopted 246 decisions. At the same time, on the same period, the institution issued 19 authorizations on rebroadcasting, 40 authorizations of this kind were re- processed and 12 ones were withdrawn. Also, the Council issued 36 broadcasting licences, declared invalid 31 ones, suspended two licences, withdrew ten licences and re-processed the conditions of 32 broadcasting licences.    

According to the report, in 2017, three radio frequencies were distributed, of which one for the first radio station for the Romanies’ community. In the context of the reform in the audiovisual sector, in terms of increase in the native broadcast products in the radio and TV programmes services, CCA approved 152 general concepts of services of programmes of the audiovisual media institutions from Moldova.

On the same period, CCA monitored 37 TV and radio stations. Based on the notifications received, CCA monitored 21 TV and radio stations and sanctioned 24 TV and radio broadcasters for the non-observance of legal norms in the audiovisual sector, imposing sanctions, of which 34 public warnings and 26 fines.  

On 1 January 2018, 183 holders of licences and rebroadcasting authorizations were registered on the audiovisual media services market of Moldova, of which 67 rebroadcasting authorizations and broadcasting licences for distributors of services, 61 broadcasting licences for TV services and 55 licences for radio services.
