Moldova, Ukraine liberalise vehicle, air means of transport

Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ – Two documents were signed today between Moldova and Ukraine on liberalising car and air transport of two states, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
In the field of car transport, it was signed Protocol amending Agreement between Government of Moldova and Government of Ukraine of 20 March 1993 on International car communications. The changes were necessary in context when volume of import and export of goods between Moldova and Ukraine has been constantly increasing.
As a result of signing of the document, international tarnsport of goods, whether bilateral or in transit, for vehicles complying with the EURO III and above rules will be carried out under a liberalised regime, that is, without proper authorisations for international carriage. Thus, it will be favoured development of international freight transport and expansion of business market for domestic car carriers.
The agreement between Governments of Moldova and Ukraine on air services is to regulate transport of persons and goods between the two countries with means of air transport. The document replaces the Moldova – Ukraine Air Service Agreement of 20 March 1993.
The new provisions will create conditions for development of air transport between parties according to international standards, facilitate activity of air operators, creating prerequisites for increase of number of airlines that operating flights between Moldova and Ukraine. In this context, increasing level of competition in air services market will generate better quality of services provided and contribute to reduction of air fares.
Also today, it was signed Memorandum of Cooperation between Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova and the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine on joint actions to ensure European integration processes for synchronous operation of energy systems of two states with the European Energy Transmission System (ENTSO – E).
