Chisinau, 13 April /MOLDPRES/- The mayor has to work primarily in the interest of citizens, not politics. Acting mayor of Chisinau Silvia Radu made the statement in an exclusive interview for MOLDPRES. She noted she had already begun the signature collection procedure needed to register as an independent candidate for the 20 May local elections.
The decision to run the ballot she took with her family. “The opinion of the family and the townspeople was important to me. After the first days since the signing process started, I felt the support of the Chisinau people. The effort I make is greater because I do not have the support of a political party, people’s support is more important than the one of a party,” Radu said.
Radu noted that the city hall must be completely depolitized, so that all necessary reforms can be made. “Following the politicization of the last years, the municipality has become deplorable. At the helm of the capital there is a need for a person to represent the people and not a political party,” she said.
Earlier this week, acting mayor Silvia Radu announced she had begun the procedure for collecting the 10,000 signatures, which would allow her to enter the electoral race for Chisinau municipality as an independent candidate.
