Moldovan farmers to receive tractors on behalf of Belarus

Chisinau, 18 April /MOLDPRES/ - Belarus will provide Moldovan farmers with more tractors. President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, on a visit to Chisinau at an invitation by President Igor Dodon, today made statements to this effect. The Belarusian official noted that he was ready to back Moldova in the agricultural, commercial and industrial sectors.  

The statements were made at a news conference held by Igor Dodon and Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The two heads of state said that there are very good cooperation relations between Moldova and Belarus, as well as a potential of cooperation which must be and can be turned to good account at its true value, for the benefit of both nations.  

“We believe that Belarus is a true friend for us, especially as we cooperate in more sectors at present. We will further make efforts to develop the ties between the two countries. Currently, there are 93 bilateral agreements and last year, the export to Belarus grew by ten per cent, with the country being among the first ten trade partners of Moldova,” Igor Dodon said.

The Moldovan head of state noted that more joint projects were presently underway. “It is about the assembling of Belarusian trolley busses and tractors. We hope that more busses will be assembled here as well. Also, we want to launch a direct air flight to Minsk and Belarusian companies should participate in the restoration of roads in Moldova. There is a nice cooperation between the two countries also in terms of external platforms and an important factor is that the largest quantity of Moldovan wines is exported to Belarus. We rely in continuation on a nice cooperation and exchange of experience,” Dodon said.      

For his part, Aleksandr Lukashenko said that the technology was to be transmitted to farmers in the territory on 19 April. “Belarus is ready to collaborate with Moldova in the sectors: aviation, trade, agriculture, industry, including for training specialists in the field. We are happy that products from Moldova are sold in our country, as they are highly appreciated. The relations between the two countries have already become a nice tradition and we want this way to be in continuation as well,” the official said.  

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko is on an official visit to Moldova on 18-19 April. Within the visit, Lukashenko will have a meeting with Prime Minister  Pavel Filip.
