Moldova ratifies Universal Postal Convention

Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree and the law on ratification by Moldova of the Universal Postal Convention and its final protocol, adopted in Doha, Qatar, on 11 October 2012, will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 20 April.
The Universal Postal Convention includes common rules applicable to the international postal service, as well as provisions on mail services for letters and parcels. The document in accordance with the Constitution of the Universal Postal Union is mandatory for all member countries. Moldova is a member since 1992.
Under the convention, Moldova benefits from the freedom of transit, the possibility to exchange mail and settlements with all countries of the world, organization and operation of international financial services, technical assistance in promoting new postal technologies, offering scholarships for participation in seminars, conferences etc.
Also, the issue will comprise the additional protocol to the general regulations of the Universal Postal Union and the 9th additional protocol to the Constitution of the Universal Postal Union.
