Moldovan deputy premier says Germany crucial partner for Moldova's European integration

Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca paid a working visit to Germany on 17-19 April, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In Berlin, the deputy prime minister met Head of the Office of the Federal President Stephan Steinlein, State Minister at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Niels Annen; State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Maria Flachsbart; a Bundestag MP in charge of the foreign policy of the Christian Democratic/Christian Social faction of Bundestag, Juergen Hardt; a Bundestag lawmaker in charge of foreign policy of the Social Democratic faction from Bundestag, Nils Schmid; a Bundestag MP, member of the Bundestag Committee on Foreign Affairs, parliamentary rapporteur for Moldova Nikolas Loebel; Deputy Director General, Foreign Policy, Security Policy and Global Issues of the Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel Joachim Bertele; the ambassador empowered for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia at the German Foreign Affairs Ministry, Andreas Peschke, and the director general for Security and Defense Policy with the German Federal Ministry of Defense Geza Andreas von Geyr.
The main subjects discussed with the German officials were focused on the political, social and economic relations between Moldova and Germany, problems and challenges of regional security, present stage of the Moldova-EU relations and Moldova’s European future.
At the meetings, Iurie Leanca thanked the German side for the political support provided to Moldova, noting the need to maintain and extend it. Also, Leanca highlighted the importance of enhancing the German political support for Moldova’s rapprochement with the European Union, as well as providing a clear-cut European prospect to Moldova.
For their part, the German officials welcomed the reforms carried out by the Moldovan government, insisting on continuing them and on the organization of free and fair elections in next autumn.
