Chisinau, 20 April /MOLDPRES/- A meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) took place on 19 April in Bender. It focused on the proposals made by the sides on solutions to the illegal installation of the positions of the alleged Tiraspol force structures and the extension of infrastructure in the Security Zone, on the bridge over the Dniestre river near Gura-Bacului-Bacioc villages, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
As a result of difficult discussions and arguments, the commission’s components agreed on the need to overcome the blockage in the JCC’s work and to solve the problem on free movement of people, goods and services on the bridge.
The Moldovan delegation insists on liquidating the positions - “border guards”, “customs officers” and “migration”, installed near the bridge by Transnistrian structures. The delegation proposes to ensure the free and safe movement on the bridge only by the servicemen of Joint Peacekeeping Forces and the joint staff of the National Patrol Inspectorate and so-called “militia”.
At this stage, no unanimously agreed solution was identified by the sides. Some of them requested time for further consultation.
The next JCC meeting will take place on 26 April 2018.
