Winners nominated at GALEX gala of national prizes, 8th issue, in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/ – The League of Librarians in Moldova and National Library (BNM) organised the World Day of the Book and Copyright and Librarian Day, the 8th issue, Gala of Laureates of national awards GALEX.

The award ceremony was moderated by Tatiana Gheiceanu, head of the Public Library Reading section. She mentioned that the event aims to promote and stimulate the work of librarians and persons who are tangled with library, book and reading.

The GALEX National Prize for Best Supporting Political Person for Libraries was awarded to James D. Pettit, US Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, for substantial support to BNM in support of historic document safeguarding project, and the prize for the best supporter of policies and programmes for capitalizing on cultural heritage was obtained by Agnieszka Skieterska, director of the Polish Institute in Bucharest, for logistical support in completing BNM's collections with most valuable editions.

The prize "The best work (publication) in librarianship written and printed in Moldovan libraries was awarded to volume "Speranta si destinul unui cronicar. Nicolae Roibu – prozator, publicist. Biobibliografie" (Hope and destiny of a chronicler. Nicolae Roibu – writer, publicist. Biobibliography), compiled by Maria Sargun, principal specialist, BNM, for the high level in bibliographic research, capitalizing and highlighting the work of the prose writer, journalist, journalist Nicolae Roibu. With the prize "The best project to promote the image of the library" were distinguished two institutions: the Scientific Library of the State University "Alecu Russo" from Balti, director Elena Harconita and the Municipal Library "B.P. Hasdeu", director – Mariana Harjevschi, for successful participation in poster and material session at the 20th issue of Bibliographic Yearbook Symposium 2017.

GALEX Award was established in 2010 by the League of Librarians of Moldova and BNM.
