Chisinau 24 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) has maintained its position on the new local polls in Chisinau and expresses regret about the fact that the pro-European parties do not cooperate between them to nominate a single candidate. The spokesman for PDM, Vitalie Gamurari, made statements to this effect at the end of the formation’s weekly meeting today.
According to Gamurari, the candidates for the Chisinau mayor office are focused on political discussions and do not take into account the interests of the city’s residents. “It is about political selfishness, especially on behalf of opposition parties, which regard themselves as pro-European parties,” Gamurari said.
Vitalie Gamurari noted that, even if PDM has no candidates for the new elections in the Moldovan capital, the party keeps an eye on the electoral campaign with interest. “We see quite clearly that there are a pretty large number of candidates on the right wing and there is this crumbling which leads to nothing good. On the other hand, we see the monopoly existing on the left side on behalf of the Party of Socialists,” Gamurari said.
Gamurari noted that data by an opinion poll made at an order by PDM shows that “the Chisinau residents are sick and tired of political debates; they want concrete problems to be settled and some political leaders might be sanctioned by the capital’s residents after 20 May.”
