About 1,300 smoke detectors set in homes of more families in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 April /MOLDPRES/ - About 1,300 smoke detectors have been set in homes of more families by employees of the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).
The actions took place within a national campaign, A House Protected, a Life Saved.
Almost 1,200 families benefited from installations of detecting toxic gas in all.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the IGSU press officer, Liliana Puscasu, said that “last week, smoke detectors were set in settlements of the Riscani, Glodeni and Hancesti districts.”
Families with many children, elderly persons, as well as bed-ridden people benefit from these devices.
On the next period, smoke detectors will reach people from the districts of Falesti, Sangerei and Stefan Voda. The campaign is aimed at preventing fires and intoxications with carbon monoxide emanated from defective heating sources.
The campaign, A House Protected, a Life Saved, was launched at an initiative by the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) and its goal is to prevent cases of intoxication with products emanated in the wake of burning. The action started in last mid-February.
According to IGSU sources, since early 2018, 40 cases of intoxication with carbon monoxide have occurred in Moldova, in the wake of which 55 persons were hit, of whom 24 children. Also, there were 13 cases of intoxication which resulted in the death of 18 people, of whom four children.
