Moldova, Turkey interested in development of bilateral relations in all sectors

Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan-Turkish relations are in a development trend both politically and economically, socially and culturally, and there is sufficient potential for their expansion and deepening in all dimensions. The findings were made by foreign ministers of the two states Tudor Ulianovschi and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu at a meeting in New York, within a high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly on sustainable peace-building, the MAEIE’s pres service has reported.
Ulianovschi and Çavuşoğlu have reviewed the excellent Moldovan-Turkish cooperation relations, noting the common interest in their development in various sectors bilaterally and multilaterally. In the context, the two officials said that an important step in this direction is also the inter-ministerial political consultations at the level of state secretaries, held in Ankara on 23-24 April 2018.
Referring to expanding bilateral relations, the two ministers expressed willingness to boost them by carrying out actions in both states. In this context, the sides pointed out a string of events planned for 2018, focusing on official visit by President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Moldova, in which it proposed signing of Declaration establishing a strategic partnership between Moldova and Turkey.
The officials reconfirmed their mutual interest in further development of trade and economic relations, taking into account the benefits of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, which came into force on 1 November 2016. This document offers all the opportunities of the business environment in both countries to set mutually beneficial partnerships, to initiate investment projects and to help promote products and services in markets in other regions of the world. Ulianovschi thanked the government of Ankara for technical and financial assistance to Moldova via the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
The foreign ministers exchanged views on regional and international security, reviewing the latest developments in certain areas, presenting the views of Chisinau and Ankara governments on ways of solving existing conflicts, including prolonged conflicts.
Ulianovschi invited his Turkish counterpart to pay an official visit to Moldova.
