Moldova enlisted in top countries with negative Russian televisions' coverage

Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova and Romania are the favourite targets for Russian televisions. Moldova ranks 10th among the top European countries with negative coverage of Russian televisions, according to a study by the Ukrainian Crisis Media Centre.
According to study data, about 87 per cent of info presented on Moldova by major Russian televisions has a negative content. Also, Romania ranks third, after Ireland and Spain, with negative news being 93 per cent.
According to cited source, most of the European states are described by Russian televisions as an absolute evil embodiment, with a few exceptions: Switzerland, Montenegro and Belarus. Otherwise, mass media strategy indicates that "in Russia, television is the most powerful mass media tool by which the country's leadership sets agenda."
The study also manifests that number of negative news has increased by 87 per cent since July 2014 – December 2017. The main negative themes used by Russian televisions are: horrors of daily life in West, decay of Europe, terrorism, protests, refugee crisis, and sanctions against Russia.
The data of sociological research show that Romania is often mentioned in Moldova – related topics.
The study by the Ukraine Crisis Media Centre has monitored the way Russia's main TV channels reflected image of the European states on 1 July 2014 – 31 December 2017, period after annexation of Crimea and start of war in eastern Ukraine. The study took into account largest Russian televisions: Rossia 1, Pervyi Kanal and NTV.
