Chernobyl disaster victims commemorated in Chisinau

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/- A memory rally took place today in Chisinau to commemorate the people who have suffered from the Chernobyl disaster.
The events were organized by the Chernobyl Union of Moldova on commemorating 32 years of catastrophe day.
The events began with laying flowers at the Stefan cel Mare monument, then the memory march took place and a rally organized at the Chernobyl Memorial.
On 26 April 1986, the fourth reactor of the Chernobyl nuclear power station exploded at 01.23 at night. All residents were evacuated because the level of radiation in the area had become dangerous. Subsequently, thousands of people, including Moldovans, participated in the work of solving the consequences of the damage, many of them died from the disease caused by radiation contamination.
