Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova and Romania will boost the exchange of experience and good practices as to the verification of the spending of public money and ensuring an efficient cooperation between the government and the Court of Accounts. The sides aim to improve the management of public money in this way.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip and the presidents of the Courts of Accounts from Moldova and Romania, Veaceslav Untila and Mihai Busuioc, respectively, made statements to this effect today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The prime minister stressed that the rational use of public resources was the cabinet’s goal No 1. In this respect, Pavel Filip highlighted the transfer, following the government’s reform, of the power of coordinating the foreign assistance to the Finance Ministry. “This will ensure a correct prioritizing of the sectors to which the foreign financial support is directed: the ministries will establish their needs and the Finance Ministry will identify the best solution of financing,” the PM said.
At the same time, Pavel Filip pointed out the usefulness of the reports of the Court of Accounts for the governmental team. “This is examined and objective information. We always draw conclusions and endeavour not to be late with the actions that should be undertaken,” the prime minister said. At present, work is carried out to institutionalize a process of monitoring the fulfillment of the decisions by the Court of Accounts and the models and practices of Romania on this segment are quite useful.
For his part, the president of the Romanian Court of Accounts said that the relations between the competent authorities of the two states are excellent, just as the ones between Romania and Moldova, in general. Mihai Busuioc praised the work of the Court of Accounts from Moldova, especially in terms of communication, presentation of reports and providing a positive institutional image, with low punitive role. At the same time, the Romanian official noted that the twinning projects implemented at the institution had contributed to its modernization.
The sides referred also to the projects carried out in Moldova with Romania’s support, among which the repair of kindergartens, donating school busses, restoration of more cultural facilities. Prime Minister Pavel Filip once again thanked for this backing, as well as for the understanding displayed by Romania for the state of things in Moldova and the care with which the neighbour country conveys balanced messages to the European institutions.
