Reforms from Moldova, cooperation with EU in economic sector considered in Brussels

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs Pierre Moscovici. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the meeting of the Moldova – EU Association Council, held in Brussels today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The prime minister referred to the economic situation in Moldova, highlighting the positive trend. The reforms and economic measures adopted by the government in the last two years yield results and cooperation with EU brings an essential contribution to this end.
Pavel Filip stressed the importance of the support on behalf of EU for continuing the reforms, noting that Moldova had fulfilled the conditions for the earmarking of the first installment of the macro-financial assistance. The National Integrity Agency (ANI) is to become functional and amendments are to be approved to the budget, which are to see financial resources for ANI’s work. The implementation of conditions for the installments 2 and 3 are also at the advanced level. ‘’The government will give priority to the fulfillment of these measures, in order to prove once again its pro-European commitment and focusing on results,’’ Pavel Filip said.
Moldova has made progress also in implementation of reforms in the financial and business sectors, in line with the Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. Moldova manages to successfully reform the banking sector with the assistance of EU and international partners, such as the International Monetary Fund and World Bank. ‘’We notice the cooperation we have with the international institutions and the way this contributes to the economic and financial stabilization of our country,’’ Pavel Filip said. At the same time, Moldova advances also in the fulfillment of the programme with IMF.
The PM informed Commissioner Moscovici about the developments in the investigation of the bank fraud.
Commissioner Pierre Moscovici encouraged the authorities to ensure the investigation of the fraud and calling to account the guilty people. At the same time, the European official stressed the need to continue efforts to improve the management of public money and further increase the budget revenues.
