Moldovan national army eighteen soldiers obtain European licences allowing carry ammunition

Chisinau, 04 May /MOLDPRES/ – The National Army will have, for the first time, drivers holding international licences allowing to carry dangerous goods, including ammunition. The announcement was made today by the leadership of the Ministry of Defence (MA) after 18 Moldovan soldiers obtained an international certificate in a course organised with support of the Logistics Command of Ministry of Defence of Germany (MDG).

The eighteen soldiers received graduation certificates and management permits of MA today, in presence of the Secretary of State for International Defence and Cooperation Policy, Dumitru Minzarari, and German Ambassador to Moldova, Iulia Monar.

The Secretary of State congratulated graduates and thanked German partners for training the Moldovan soldiers. Similarly, Menzarari mentioned that the project has contributed to development of capabilities of the National Army in accordance with international standards, as well as ensuring security of civilian population.

According to Chief of the General Staff Logistics Directorate, Iurie Bruma, the three week course is something new for Moldova, during which drivers have studied procedures and rules for packing and loading of goods at risk, marking techniques vehicles and actions to be taken in case of accident.

"The National Army soldiers have passed a capacity test, which gave them right and qualification of transport dangerous goods not only on territory of Moldova but also in all other 50 Member States of the European Agreement on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods" said Bruma.

The training activity of Moldovan military is part of a project funded by Germany. The project also provides a donation of five new trailer trucks worth €1.5 million. The transport units are due to arrive in Moldova by the end of 2018.
