West Moldova city hosts two regional events meant to promote settlement as tourist attraction

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Ungheni city hall on 5-6 May organized two regional events meant to promote the settlement as national and international tourist attraction. It is about the Festival of Chest-nut Trees and the DeVin&De Gust Festival.
The longest alley of chest-nut trees in Moldova was planted on a distance of more than 3 km in the centre of Ungheni city almost 40 years ago. This is also one of the most extended alley of chest-nut trees in Europe, according to the website www.ungheni.md.
To bring to the public attention the beauty of the Alley of Chest-nut Trees, especially when it is in bloom, as well as the originality of Moldovan traditions, the Ungheni city hall, in partnership with the National Office for Vine and Wine, ruled to hold the first issue of the Festival of Chest-nut Trees this year.
‘’The idea to organize the Festival of Chest-nut Trees was launched several years ago. This year, we ruled to carry out this project. We hope it will be in the likings of the Ungheni residents and will become a good instrument for the promotion of the local/national/international tourism, social and cultural values and urban nature of the Ungheni city. At the same time, to enhance the impact of the event, we joined it with the DeVin&De Gust Festival, to arouse the interest of as many as possible visitors,’’ the Ungheni deputy mayor, Eduard Balan, said.
The event started on 5 May at the Culture Palace from Ungheni with a festival and contest of pupils from out-of-school artistic education institutions, titled Chest-nuts Have Bloomed.
Today, over 25 participants from all vine-growing and wine-making regions of Moldova, small local producers and from Moldova, who are to display their mastership and success at the second edition of the DeVin&De Gust Festival, bring together at the Alley of Chest-nut Trees from Ungheni. The schedule of the action includes master-classes of Wine School, exhibitions of workmanship, gastronomy, sports activities, creation, entertainment workshops, numerous concert programmes given by artists from the region and the country.
