Moldovan PM, European lawmaker discuss reforms' agenda

Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/ - The results of the Moldova – European Union Association Council and developments recorded as a result of the reforms carried out by the government today were discussed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and a Romanian member of the European parliament, Victor Bostinaru, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The prime minister said that the efforts made by the cabinet in the last two years, among which the cutting of the number of institutions with control duties, decrease in the number of permissive acts, creation of a friendly environment for attracting investments, had yielded results. Thus, in 2017, the economic growth stood at 4.5 per cent and the positive trend is maintained. The exports grew by 20 per cent and 65 per cent of them are oriented to the European Union’s market.
Decision-makers also managed to strengthen the banking system, with the fact proved also by the presence of European investors in Moldova, Banca Transilvania and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. At the same time, the PM stressed the importance of implementing the fiscal system, treasury and pensions.
The officials also reviewed the latest developments as to the construction of the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline – a project which will ensure the energy independence and security of Moldova. Pavel Filip positively appreciated the march of the works, noting that the gas pipeline would become functional till mid-2019.
As to the macro-financial assistance, Pavel Filip said that, till the end of the spring-summer session, Moldova would fulfill all conditions for the earmarking of the three installments. The first installment might reach Moldova in June-July.
MEP Victor Bostinaru appreciated the government’s efforts and the results recorded, encouraging the Moldovan authorities to continue implementing the reforms’ agenda.
