Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/ - Tens of representatives of first- and second-level local public authorities, specialists in the fields of education, social assistance, medicine and public order, members of NGOs and parents active from six districts, including Sangerei, Nisporeni and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, on 30 March – 7 May participated in the consultation of an action plan of the inter-sectoral strategy on the development of parental abilities and competences for 2016-2022.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the events were organized by the permanent secretariat of the National Council for the Protection of the Rights of the Child at the State Chancellery, with the support of the Representation of UNICEF in Moldova, which contributed also to the working out of the project, along with specialists in the fields of education, social protection, justice and domestic affairs.
The plan includes also a string of actions for the development of parental competences, such as: creation and development of parents’ schools at education institutions; promotion of parental education at first medical aid institutions and social protection institutions. The document sees also the revision of the normative framework on this dimension, including the aligning with the international standards as to the protection of children’s rights.
The measures are necessary, as statistics data shows that 57 per cent of the servants face various difficulties in educating children, invoking the lack of time for child, lack of knowledge of information, limited access to education or health services.
At the public consultations, specialists welcomed the project and proposed introduction of actions which would regard the parents who left abroad or which would contribute to strengthening the mechanism of inter-sectoral cooperation, in order to inform and advise parents, and if needed, to intervene with specific programmes and developed services to back families at risk.
As a result of the consultations held, the draft action plan will be given final touches and proposed to the government for approval by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry.
